LUCIDPIXUL - Private mentorship

So Duffman, tell me a bit about your education and experience

Just check out the ABOUT page above.

When do sessions start?

Due to the fact that students come from every country and every time zone on this big blue planet, once you've registered and are all set up, you're ready to start right away!

When do the private sessions happen and how long are they?

When you sign up for the mentorship, you will be able to pick the day of the week and time that you'd like to have your private sessions, depending on the openings at the time. The private sessions are 2 hours long. You can chose between the morning, noon and afternoon session (9-11am and 2-4pm - Montreal (Eastern) time). Please note that these mentioned times are MONTREAL time, so you'll need to do a quick Google search for "time difference between Montreal and (your time zone/country)

Are there any age requirements?

None whatsoever. LUCIDPIXUL includes students ranging from 16 years old to 60 years old. Do note however that some of the course material includes artistic nudity. In the case that you are under the age of 18 years old (legal age in Canada), you will need permission by an adult to take the course, and if possible, their attendance during the weekly sessions. Naturally this isn't always possible, but being a father of 3 children myself, I have a strict policy about transparency and online safety.

Will I still have access to the site and learning material after the 8 weeks are over?

Yes, even though the one-on-one sessions are for 8 weeks, you will continue to have access to all of the videos long after the course is completed. Because there is a limited number of students that can have access to the private videos at a time, the length of time isn't exact, but it's safe to assume that you will have AT LEAST 4 months of access (and possibly longer).

Do I HAVE to work digitally?

No, you don't HAVE to, but take note that the course is taught entirely using Adobe Photoshop. The majority of the lessons in this course however are art based rather than Photoshop based, so a sketchbook, some paints are plenty sufficient. Do note however that traditional painting and drawing techniques are not a part of the curriculum.

What language(s) are the courses taught in?

All of the course material, site and references are entirely in English at the moment. However, being fluently bilingual in French and English, as well as teach professionally in French and English, am perfectly capable of doing our one-on-one time in French. Note however that for the meantime, if your mother tongue is French, your English will need to be solid enough to understand the course material. Of course, if there are a few things here and there that you aren't clear about, you can always contact me.

Does the quality of the training compare to a traditional brick-&-mortar school?

Yes, it very much does. Being a teacher both online and in the traditional school system, I can say with confidence that for many people, it's the recommended choice for several reasons. A) the cost B) the training is focused on the mastery of a specific set of skills (rather than generalized) C) private sessions grant students a far greater insight into self-discovery and their unique style. These are factors that I strongly feel should be explored well before considering the substantial financial and time cost of traditional schools.

What is your personal approach to teaching?

My focus has always been geared around being a better listener than talker. You already know what you truly want from your career, but you don't necessarily know the right questions to ask. I teach all of the technical skills you need to learn, grow and evolve artistically and creatively, then you take it from there. From that point on, we go over your work with a fine-tooth comb, discover and exploit your natural talent and vision together.

How much learning material is there?

That can vary considerably depending on the week. Some weeks are as few as 6 lessons, others can be more than double that depending on the complexity of the topic at hand (such as anatomy or value or rendering). Altogether, you're looking at more than 120 full-length lessons.

Will I see a noticeable improvement in my work after your course?

Yes, you will. Of course, how much time you invest into your growth makes all the difference, but I have no doubt in my mind that you're already passionate and determined to get the most out of this course, and your future.

Am I allowed to be silly during the course?

Absolutely not, giggling weakens the honchas, next question!

Are there any additional features to this mentorship program worth knowing about?

Ah, there are many on the horizon! As you attend the course, new exclusive features will be added..easter eggs! But that's a surprise so hush-hush!

I haven't found the answer to my question in this section!

Not a problem! Feel free to contact me anytime at
